“Come on Jojo, hurry up before we are late,” Candy said. Jojo zips up his coat and hurries along behind his sister. “We don’t want to be late for the Crystal Wing Festival at the Fairy Palace. Aurora said that the last day of summer in the Fae world is like New Year's Eve for them and the festival celebrates the beginning of a new year. That means for us it’s the last big adventure before school starts.”

“Okay, magic bag, wand, fairy treasure…. got it! Okay, Jojo, we have everything we need,” Candy said. “Oh, I almost forgot, we got to make sure grandma is asleep.” (She would never let us go if she knew all that goes on in the Fae world!) Candy and Jojo poke their heads out from the kitchen door and peek into the living room where they spot their grandmother sleeping on the couch with the TV on. “Alright, she is out like a light, let's roll.” Candy then takes a small glass bottle with a purple pearl, a teardrop-shaped stone, and a tiny seashell inside out of her purse. She uncorks the glass bottle and turns it upside down so the tear-shaped stone will land in her hand. She then takes a deep breath, concentrates, takes out her wand, points it at the teardrop stone in her hand, and then says, “Take me to the Fairy’s Castle.” When the wand’s magic contacts the stone a flash of light shoots out and a bluish tear-shaped swirling portal appears. Candy and Jojo both look at each other and then step into the portal. As they vanish into its light the portal closes behind them.

“Wow, look at how pretty the castle is getting,” said Jackie the youngest princess of the Fairy Kingdom. “I know, it will be even more beautiful when they bring out crystal wings,” said Aurora the oldest princess of the Fairy Kingdom. Everyone is excited, Father told the townsfolk that the festivities will be held here at the castle this year instead of the village and that everyone from all over is welcome to come.” “I think Daddy wants to have the festival here to bring in all the luck he can for the new year because they say the bigger the celebration the better the next year will be,” said Jackie. “You got that right, Jackie,” said Aurora. Just then a blue light shines in the middle of the room followed by a bluish tear-shaped portal opening. “A portal, that must mean they’re here,” said Aurora. “Candy and Jojo you’re here,” Jackie said as Candy and Jojo stepped out of the portal. “It is so good to see you guys,” said Aurora. “It’s great to see you guys too,” Candy said as the portal closed in on itself and retreated into its stone form. Candy then picks up the stone and places it back in the bottle and into her bag for safekeeping. “Wow the place looks amazing,” said Candy. Jojo nods his head in agreement. “I know right,” said Jackie. “We are almost ready for the big festival. It's going to be so fun.” “It sure is, from the midnight of the last day of the year to the sunrise of the first day of the year there is going to be nonstop fun, games, treats, and more. Father has gone all out this year to make this the best New Year's Celestial Festival in history,” said Aurora. “I’m so excited,” Jackie yelled. “Everyone going to be here, it is going to be so fun!” “Calm down, Jackie,” said Aurora. “We still have three hours until it starts.” “Oh, yeah,” Jackie said. “What do we do till then?” “We could practice our magic or explore the castle,” said Candy. “Yeah, that’s a good idea,” said Aurora.

Three Hours Pass: [The New Year's Celestial Festival has started and Fae folk from all over the world are traveling to the Fairy Castle to celebrate the new year. Beautiful lights, laughter and joy, and amazing smells fill the courtyard and ballroom of Fairy Castle. All throughout the night games are played at set-up booths, prizes are won, actors, singers, dancers, stuntmen, and all other kinds of entertainers put on a show for all to see, and delectable delicacies prepared by the top chefs and pâtissiers of the royal palace get savored devoured. And soon it is only a few minutes till dawn of the next day and the beginning of a new year. King Alef walks up to the podium and begins his speech.]

King Alef clears his throat and says, “Citizens of the Fae and Elf kingdom and guests, I am happy that we have all had our fun tonight at the festival. It brings me great joy knowing that our kingdom is safe and prospering. I have faith that this prosperity will continue in the new year.” The audience claps and happily shouts with joy. The King smiles and continues, “And now it is time to bring out the crystal wings and let the rising sun's rays shine and reflect on the wings, bringing in the new year.” The crowd cheers as a trapdoor opens on the stage floor and out of it rises a shining shimmering crystal shaped like fairy wings.
